ISSUES WE FACE

PRIVACY RIGHTS

The current changes in Washington are scary and I will do everything I can to stop our freedoms from being taken away at the state level.

- Only a woman should decide what happens to her body. I am 100% pro-choice.

- I support the right to contraceptives.

- I support same-sex marriage.

- I support interracial marriage.

The need to state these beliefs in 2022 seems unbelievable, but I want you to know where I stand.

EDUCATION

This particular issue has been increasingly gaining coverage all over the world. We all want our students in school, safely. Candidates are saying they support "Parent's Choice" related to education. Those are the people pushing banning books. That's not my choice. I want my children to have access to books with experiences and lifestyles different from their upbringing. Curriculum information is available online for the school districts in our area. It's not a secret. You can see what's being taught to your kids. The teachers and administrators have always appreciated parents taking an interest in their student's education.

GUN SAFETY

I know a lot of responsible gun owners. I want measures in place to ensure guns are used safely:

  • Criminal background checks

  • Military-style assault weapon and high-capacity magazine ban

  • Federal crime for gun trafficking

  • "Red flag" law to allow temporary removal of weapons from an individual in crisis

HEALTH CARE

I am truly passionate about this issue, as it is one that impacts so many people all over the world. Everyone needs access to health care and shouldn't need a Go Fund Me account if a family member gets sick. The insurance industry is making record profits. I will work with the Legislature to require insurance companies to contribute their fair share.

FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY

No one is happy paying taxes. But we do. Right now, only 6% of our state taxes come back to our area. I plan to work with County and State leaders to increase our share of money coming from Springfield. The more we receive from Springfield, the less is needed in local taxes in the communities in House District 52.
